Responsibilities
Salary : 55,000 - 60,000
Take direction from the Group Financial Controller on tasks across the finance function and see them through to completion, spanning AP, AR, financial accounting, management accounts, and analysis as required.
Review the work completed by existing finance team, balance sheet reconciliations, bank reconciliations, month-end reporting, analyze findings, and report back to the Group Financial Controller.
This role oversees that work and follows up on any items needing attention, rather than performing the processing itself.
Process payroll via ADP for three jurisdictions: UK (monthly), Australia (monthly), and US (fortnightly), including related items such as superannuation, workers' compensation, health insurance, and payroll deductions.
Prepare finance information and commentary as requested by the Group Financial Controller, including material to support tax return preparation; the Group Financial Controller retains direct contact with external tax agents, with the role gaining exposure and experience over time.
Support foreign currency payment processes.
Work on numerous projects within Ecosphere's ERP system – for example, setting up ADA/bank-import files across entities – taking instructions, carrying out initial investigation, and reporting back to the Group Financial Controller.
As trust and experience build, progress to preparing payment batches within the ERP system for the Group Financial Controller's review and bank approval.
Identify gaps and inefficiencies in current system usage and bring forward recommendations.
Be ready to take on a wide range of ad hoc finance tasks, from high-level analysis to hands-on administrative work, as priorities require.
Requirements
Business degree required.
Freight forwarding industry experience preferred.
5+ years Experience, CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification preferred; strong, proven hands-on finance experience will also be considered in place of formal qualification.
Working knowledge of CargoWise preferred.
Multi-jurisdiction accounting standards (e.g. US GAAP, UK GAAP, AASB) are not required.
